Direction faults by JD Chakravarthy:

1. Potti Sathi (Prabhakar) doesn’t limp in one shot and limps in the next shot after he is shot with a bullet in the leg (girl kiss scene in the restaurant).

2. Jagapathi Babu foot boards a bus by holding it with his fractured hand which has a plaster patti on it.

3. Mahesh Manjrekar breaks the plaster patti of Jagapathi Babu when he comes to know about the presence of a police in his gang. No correct reason was shown y the director for this.

My analysis: Homam is a complete copy of The Departed english movie with a lot of telugu touch in it. JD Chakravarthy changed the story in the climax according to the tase of telugu audience. JD Chakravarthy has scripted the story in a very good manner. The main asset for the movie is the screen play and direction by JD Chakravarthy. He has done a very good job in both these departments. The movie is a complete action flick with a racy story except for the climax part which drags a bit.

First half of the movie is good with a different story, variety song and few comedy scenes. Second half is also good with many twists and turns in the story but the climax is little bit dragged. Overall the movie is different with a very novel story. JD directed the movie in a new way which will go well with the class crowds and mass crowds are sure to like the item songs and the fast story narration. So we can say that JD has tasted success with his first ever directorial venture Homam.

Performances: Jagapathi Babu is the hero of Homam who stole the entire show. His looks, body language and his dialogues aptly suited the role of a goon who is actually an under cover cop. He is now-a-days doing these kind of roles with ease and Homam also is not an exception. His new style of placing the cigarette packet in the sleeve of his shirt is good which will surely be followed by many youth in the state.

JD Chakravarthy is good as the police who is actually an informer for the villans. His expressions as a cunning and bad police man were good. His role was of equal lenght and was as much important as the hero.

Mamtha Mohan Das and Madhurima were just ristricted for the songs. The hot number between Mamtha Mohan Das and Jagapathi Babu is not there in the movie. Shakshi Sivanand and another hot girl were good for the item songs with their oomph factor.

Mahesh Manjrekar did the same kind of action as that of his earlier telugu and hindi movies but it is nice to see a smiling and laughing villan on telugu screens after a long time.

Pradeep Rawat did a sinciere Police officer role for the first time in his telugu cinema career. All his villan roles till now are of no match to this positive role. He did a neat and decent performance in Homam.

MS Narayana and Krishna Bhagawan tried some comedy in the movie which actually didnt come out well.

Nitin and JD Chakravarthy music does not create any impression on the audience except for the novelity in lyrics and also picturization of first two songs.

Story by JD Chakravarthi is actually a copy of Hollywood flick The Departed with minor additions and subtractions to suite the taste of telugu audience which came out well.

Screenplay and direction are also by JD Chakravarthy in which he excelled. Being the desciple of Ram Gopal Verma, JD Chakravarthy kept up his guru’s name by making a good movie. He showed his talent as director for the first time on telugu screen and is sure to taste success with Homam film..

JD Chakravarthy announced the sequel for this film which will start its shooting part from October 9th. The sequel is titled as Marana Homam. The title is shown on screen at the end of the movie when under cover police officer Jagapathi babu lands up in Pakisthan to nab Dawood Ibrahim.

Story: Mallikarjuna Rao alias Malli (Jagapathi Babu) and Chandu (JD Chakravarthy) are two youth who join police for two different reasons. Malli wants to become a police officer but ends up joining Daddy’s (Mahesh Manjrekar) mafia gang as a secret police officer under the guidence of Inspector Vishwanath (Pradeep Rawat). Meanwhile Daddy joins Chandu in police force only to get information from him. The whole movie is all about how donga police and police donga meet each other and who wins over whom.

My analysis: Baladoor movie is a decent family entertainer but with a routine story line. One big family, one useless kid (hero) who is nice at heart. The whole family misunderstands him and he is pushed out of the house. But this good hero saves the entire family from different difficult situations but always is behind the scenes. The family realises his good deeds in the climax and the hero rejoins the family. We as audience have seen lot many telugu movies in the past with the same story line.

This weak and routine story line and a dragging second half makes this Baladoor just a watchable movie. The story writer should have taken care of the script and the screenplay in the second half should have been done better by the director to make it a better movie.

Uday Shankar who earlier directed Kalisundam Raa for Suresh Productions is still in the same mood of family stories. How could he think that a superhit story 8 years back can re-create the same magic and success again??? He could have worked more on the script part and changed it according to the new-age cinema audience.

Performances: Ravi Teja is the saving life of the movie. He has done his routine care free action in the first half and a little serious mixed with mass action in the second half.

Superstar Krishna does the role of peddanana to Ravi Teja. It is very nice to see Krishna in such kind of decent and nice role. He did his performance with ease and elan. The best part in Krishna’s action is the action sequence in the climax where he hits 10 goons at a time and proves himself once again as Superstar.

Anushka is good as heroine. She has lost the unnecessary fat in this movie which she developed for Don movie. Anushka’s role is just restricted to the songs. She showed all her glamour in the songs.

Chandra Mohan as Ravi Teja’s father, Pradeep Rawat and Subbaraju as villans are good and adequate in their roles.

Brahmanandam and Sunil created the much necessary comedy in the movie which was good.

Fights are well picturized in the movie and showed Ravi Teja’s powerful emotions in the movie.

Songs are average. Music by Radha Krishna is also average. No song can make any impression on audience except for the last song. The good part in songs is that they are all shot in good locations and sets. Another asset for the songs is Anushka.

Screenplay and direction by Uday Shankar is just average. He selected a routine and old story line and tried to give a new look to it in which he miserably failed. The story lost tempo in the second half and also he added more emotion in it because of which the audience will feel little bored.

Story: Chanti (Ravi Teja) is a care-free family member in Ramakrishna (Superstar Krishna) joint family who does nothing but kicking baddies. Chandramohan who is the father of Chanti sends him out of the house. Bhanumathi (Anushka) who is a student falls in love with this Baladoor for his good deeds. Chanti who comes out of the house saves his family members from all the problems created by Pradeep Rawat and his brother-in-law Subbaraju.

In the climax, Ramakrishna and his entire family comes to know about all the good deeds of Chanti from a well-wisher and brings him back to the house along with his lady love Bhanumathi.
